Wonderful Weekend

We had a very laid back weekend. No set plans. Fly-by-the-seat-of-our-pants kinda days. Which is good, but I felt sort of lazy, because I didn't accomplish much. 

Bubba and I went to a few yard sales on Saturday. We found a couple games that he has enjoyed "playing," for only $.10 each - my kind of prices.

By playing, I mean that he just does his own thing - no rules, just right. 

 We also picked up 4 hula hoops for ... FREE. So that is awesome sauce.

Bubs kinda got the hang of it; he would spin the hoop around himself, then shake his little booty. It was way too funny.  

I also started working on decorating/cleaning up the spare bedroom/office.

Wonderful Weekend

I spent most of friday going through a trunk full of newspapers, photos, and game day guides from when my brother played football at West Point. You're probably wondering why I devoted the majority of my day to cutting out 6-7 year old articles, and organizing a few stacks of pictures and game tickets.

It is mostly because I am an awesome sister, and I have a pretty awesome brother that I would do just about anything for; but, I also want to use the trunk to store all of Carter's dress up clothes, so the other stuff has to go somewhere else {and if I have to move it, it might as well be organized}.

I loved finding pictures of him in the newspapers...it really made searching the papers for the articles much more fun. Go #55!

And seeing him on the cover of the media guides...my brother rocks!

On Sunday, I went bridesmaid dress shopping with one of my {4} friend(s) getting married this year. The navy blue and white striped dress was the winner!

Wonderful Weekend - Strider Practice

Saturday we drove down to Sarasota so Bubba could take his Strider for a spin on the small Strider track.

If you don't know what a Strider Balance Bike is you are seriously missing out let me get you up to speed. Strider is a bike with no pedals, that helps kids learn balance and coordination. Then, when they are old enough to ride a big bicycle, they already have the basic balance skills and only have to learn how to pedal, which is much easier to pick up. They are much safer than tricycles; and much more fun. Bubba got his for Christmas at 15 months - he is 28 months now.

A few weeks ago, we took him to his first Strider race in Naples. He had a blast ..... until he took a spill coming down the first {very big} hill. This didn't stop him from wanting to ride his bike; he just didn't want to ride on the big hills.

We decided to give the track another shot, at Sarasota BMX - they have a track built specifically for the little Strider riders. While he wouldn't go down the starting hill, he eventually warmed up to the ending "big hill."

I was good with that. Baby steps, ya know.

Next weekend there is a race close by, so we'll see how that goes. Hopefully, he completes a race at some point, so that he will be able to compete in the Strider World Cup this summer; and if he doesn't, that's alright too. He has so much fun either way.

A Holly Jolly Christmas

We have had a wonderful Christmas here on Country Farm Place. 

Lots of food.

Cookies, yummmm.

Making ravioli for Christmas dinner.

Lots of family. 

Lots of fun.

We even got to Skype with Hubby on Christmas morning, so he could watch Little Man open presents. 

And we definitely could not forget the reason for the season....celebrating the birth of our Lord and Savior.

No matter what holiday you celebrate, we hope you all have had a wonderful holiday season! And cheers to the coming New Year! 

Oh Christmas Tree, Oh Christmas Tree

Hubby won't be with us for Christmas (darn Army), and has been asking for pictures of our tree (since he doesn't have one wherever he is) for awhile now. Keep in mind, we've had our tree since the day after Thanksgiving.

Well, I think I have kept him waiting a sufficient amount of time, and now that there are finally presents underneath it, I can finally show him. 

We don't have a topper, if you hadn't already noticed. We just have a little angel ornament that sits at the top. I've been looking for a pretty Angel topper for a few years now, but have yet to find one that I really like. Recently, I've been trying to figure out how to create a nice looking one myself. Obviously, I have not been successful in coming up with ideas. But hopefully by next year we'll have a beautiful homemade Angel for our tree. 

Every year we get a new "special" family ornament. We haven't gotten one yet for this year. I've been debating on purchasing one, or making a memory ornament. Or maybe Hubby will buy us one from wherever he is in now...hint hint.

Look at how far Little Man's tree has come since December 1st! All Most of the ornaments have come from his advent calendar...only 4 more left woo hoo! 

The tree has kind of become the catch all for random ornaments we make during play-dates and what not. Or, if you notice the little baseball hanging at the bottom, that is a key chain that came from a birthday party goody bag.

The Happiest Place On Earth

I know I have been such a slacker on posting...but it's only because we have been at the happiest place on earth. Or in other words.....DISNEY WORLD! 

Nonna (my mom), Little Man, Hubby, and I took a little stay-cation last week to the Disney parks; and we had a blast! 

His favorite part was getting the all of the characters autographs. Too funny!

And of course, we couldn't leave without meeting Mickey and Minnie Mouse. 

We had a magical time! Hope everyone else had a wonderful Veteran's Day (and 11/11/11) weekend!
