Thursday Things

(1) Have you ever gotten a toy airplane stuck in your hair? Yea, me neither.

(2) Making this Skateboard Swing, as soon as I find a skateboard at a yard sale/thrift store. If you see one, puh-lease pick it up for me....

(3) Obsessed with this chocolate right now. So much so, that I may even hide it from Bubba when we get home from the store so that he forgets we bought it, then secretly eat it while he's sleeping. Doesn't everyone do that?

(4) Sponge Water Bombs. Yea. That's happening this summer.

(5) I chuckled when I noticed this billboard today...Note: if you have to make it clear that the girls are not for rent, then "Rent Us!" is probably not the best wording to put on your billboard next to 2 barely dressed girls. Just a thought. P.S. I prefer Rent the Runway

Happy Thursday!

MIA

I know that I have been completely absent the last few weeks. Recently, I have been so overwhelmed with weddings, showers, traveling, and just day to day life.

Wild Dunes, South Carolina
I don't know if I have really mentioned it before, but Hubby has been deployed {sort of - it's kind of hard to explain, so we'll just leave it at deployed} since November, and was supposed to be returning in May. Until it was decided that he would be staying where he's at {again, kind of. He doesn't really stay in one place for long} for another 4 months.

With Hubs being gone, taking care of the little guy, and just keeping up with everything else in our lives that has to be taken care of....I am completely worn out. It has been hard for me to find the energy to get any of our home projects done, craft with Bubba, and write. But, after my {very } short getaway last weekend, I have recharged my batteries {as much as I could}, and am ready to face off with the next few months.

With all that being said, this is what we have been up to:

Sil and I took a trip up to South Carolina for one of our best friends wedding.

It rained during the ceremony, but the pay off was this gorgeous rainbow that appeared right after they were pronounced husband and wife. So AWESOME!

Sil caught the bouquet. She claims that she didn't mean too; but it's quite fitting, since she will be my last un-married friend as of November.

We went blueberry picking at one of our favorite local blueberry farms, BlueYouth Berries.

Creating beautiful works of art using glue, kool-aid, and pieces of paper.

I've also been working with my friend Jill, on some projects to sell...visit our blog

After our upcoming trip to visit my brother, things should be pretty calm around here for a few weeks. Then, on to my best friend JJ's wedding (#2 of 4) in June.

Hope everyone has had a wonderful weekend!

Thursday Things

source

(1) To celebrate National Grilled Cheese Month, Bubba and I  had some friends over to play and eat grilled cheese sandwiches. I made The Bianca, pictured above.

(1.5) Mine didn't look as pretty as those in the picture though.

(2) This Jar of Hearts wedding guest book/favor is such a cute idea! I think it could also be tweaked a little to use at a bridal shower.

(3) I love that the Jar of Hearts idea stemmed from an obsession with the song by Christina Perri, because I kinda LOVE the song too.

(4) I love this Tangram-esque fabric puzzle.

(4.5) I'd make one for Bubba, but it seems like oh so much work. One day I'll have time to make it...maybe.

(5) Have ya'll been watching Frozen Planet? I have been kind of obsessed with it every Sunday night. It is probably the only show I make sure to watch now that I haven't been able to use my TIVO for the last few months.

(6) I wish I had seen this on naturally dyed Easter eggs before we attempted to dye them.

(7) Tomorrow is Friday the 13th…

Happy Thursday from Bubba!

*Hubby found it funny that we were using the inflatable pool instead of swimming in our pool - ya know, the big one that takes up half of our backyard, and got solar panels last year to heat it. Yeah, I wondered the same thing.

Wonderful Weekend

Started out with A Little Drummer Baby Shower.

And ended with a very low key Easter.

I hope ya'll had a wonderful Easter weekend, too!

**Posts on how I made the decorations for the shower are coming soon.**

Thursday Things

(1) Last weekend, we went paddleboarding in Weekie Wachee, and it was so much fun! I told  Hubby we needed to get a paddleboard and move to the river. He didn't agree to the moving part. Check out Surf SUP Weeki, and try it out for yourself!

(2) I went all Sandra Lee Semi-homemade on this Baked Hummus Spinach Dip, and it was pretty awesome.

(2.5) Yay! for BOGO Sabra hummus at Publix. I may have bought 4 {and secretly wanted to get more, but thought the cashier might think I was weird}. And I definitely recommend using the jalapeño hummus.....

(3) I forgot to snap a picture when it was done baking, but I assure you, it was gooey, cheesy, yumminess.

(4) I also tested out these Skinny Baked Mozzarella Sticks, and while mine didn't look as golden and beautiful as the ones on Skinny Taste, they were still super good. {I purposely didn't take a picture because I didn't think they looked all that pretty}

(5) Here's a sneak peak at what has been keeping me so busy lately, that I haven't had time to post. I can't wait to share everything I've been working on!

(6) Bubba and I have been getting ready for Earth Day by finding things around the house to repurpose for our crafts.

(7) The little guy went to bed at 4:45 pm tonight, which meant I got to eat a Cold Stone Creamery Chocolate Chip Cookie Ice Cream Sandwich for dinner. Thanks a lot for leaving that the other night, friend {you know who you are}.

(8) I'm most likely in for an extremely long night, or an insanely early morning because of the unusually early bedtime; and I'm out of coffee....awesome.

(9) Adding Earth Paint to my wish list of things to get Bubba.

(9.5) Uncle B, this would make an awesome birthday gift for your favorite eco-concious nephew. Just a thought.

Happy Thursday!

Thursday Things

(1) I realized that I never posted a Thursday Things last week. I'm such a slacker.

(2) I know I'm skipping ahead a holiday, but I love this Mother's Day printable.

(3) I'm a little late on talking about this, but Pinterest has recently updated their terms of use, most likely due to all the chatter about copyright infringement. The Paper Mama wrote a great post about how to pin responsibly. {And she provides a few buttons to place on your own site to show if you are pinterest friendly or not - so sweet of her!}.

(4) Trying to find time to make Resurrection Eggs for Bubba. Good ideas here and here. Both include printables for the bible verses.

(5) A few articles on raising confident, well-rounded boys at Huffington Post, Momformation Blog (from Baby Center), and Baby Center's 10 tips for raising a well-rounded boy.

(6) I could not express my concerns about raising a future adult male better than the article on Momformation. I know that this is a task I cannot undertake on my own - I pray everyday for the Lord's help to raise Bubba to be a responsible, respectful man. With Him I have no worries that Bubba will have a bright, and successful future.

(7) One of my favorite Etsy shops, CREATE STUDIO, is offering free domestic shipping this week to make room for her next line.

(7.5) Go check out her adorable, handcrafted products! I absolutely LOVE my cell phone case. I use it everyday - I keep my ID, credit card that I use the most, and phone in it at all times in my bag, that way I can just grab it out when I don't want to carry my purse.

(8) While browsing Etsy for learning kits for Bubba, I came across a crocheted sex ed kit. I laughed hysterically at first. Then, thought that one day I think it would come in handy.

 The weekend is almost here!
Happy Thursday!

Thursday Things

(1) I made {turkey} Cheeseburger Soup for dinner the other night. While, the weather here is kind of warm for soup, it still hit the spot.

(2) I also made these delicious, garlicky croutons; I left out the rosemary - I didn't have any, and I'm not a huge rosemary fan anyway. Also, I used the crust from a whole loaf of bread {I would just save it in a bag in the fridge every time I made Bubba a sandwich, until the whole loaf was gone}.

(3) I've had to stop myself multiple times from consuming the whole bag of croutons at once. They are that yummy, and I am that in love with croutons.

(4) These Cold Peanut Noodles are next on my list of things to make. {This gal has some seriously good recipes...I have not yet been disappointed}.

coahbutton

(5) I think I'm going to make a Child Training Bible

(6) I cracked the screen on my phone....what a bummer.

(7) Luckily, it was up in the corner, so I can still use it with no problem; and I'm due for an upgrade in July...fingers crossed a new iPhone is released by then (or relatively soon after).

(8) Just add it to the list of all the things breaking around here. You can also add our pool filter to that list. I think we're up to 5 new expenses. Awesome. I love being a homeowner.

(9) Future love birds.

Happy Thursday!

Thursday Things

(1) I missed the Kate Spade Sale...bummer.

(2) I told myself to go back and look through everything when I had a minute. But that minute never arrived.

(3) Oh well. I probably didn't need to waste the money anyway, since everything in our house is deciding to crap out on us. Super. Fun.

(4) Such a brilliant use for a table.

(5) {I never thought I would be saying this, but...} I kind of can't wait for Bubba to be in to Superheros, so we can make this Superhero City. A-friggin-dorable is all I can say.

(6) Bubba was fitting his nap today, so I put him in his room and shut the door {ya know, for quiet time}...

(7) This is where I found him 45 minutes later.

(8) At least he's asleep.
{Side-note: I'm very much against Cry It Out (he wasn't crying at all), and every time he called for me (2 or 3 times) I checked on him and asked if he wanted me to lay down with him. Just thought I should add that in, if someone stumbled upon this and thought that I locked my kid in his room and just let him scream (that is not the case, at all)}.

(9) Super cute printable from eighteen25.

(10) I have a new obsession with felt. So don't be surprised when you see a ton a posts about our felt crafts.

(11) Someone loves Roseanne as much as I do {probably even a bit more so}. I didn't think it was possible. I love that "I Love Lucy" is also her favorite show. This chick is right up my alley.

(12) Bubba and I watched this after reading the above post. So many memories. Oh Lucy, how I love ya.

Happy Thursday!

Wonderful Weekend - Sick Kiddo

We've been stuck at home since Friday because Bubba has been sick. You know what amazes me about sick toddlers? They seem to have even more energy than when they are well.

Seriously! This kid was bouncing off the walls as he was hacking up a lung and shooting snot bubbles from his nose.

In an effort to not go completely stir crazy, I tried to come up with some fun things for us to do {when he wasn't sleeping or laying down watching Cinderella for the millionth time}.

Saturday, we made colored sand bottles - not sure if that's the real name for this little craft, but it's what we called it.

I used to love making these when I was a kid. I think I had like 5 or 6; and I think I even kept one or two in my "box of childhood memories." I'm kind of a hoarder, so I wouldn't be surprised if I kept more than that though. I remember one bottle was in the shape of a castle - that might have been the one I kept since it was my favorite. I'm compelled to climb up into the attic to find it, but Hubby's car is in my way {curse you stick shift!}.

To make one yourself, all you need is sand, food coloring, and a bottle.

It would probably be best to let the sand dry first {after you add the color}, but I have an impatient toddler and this was a spur of the moment idea.

Layer the sand and replace the lid.

As you can see, we used a funnel to pour the sand in. You can do without it, especially if the mouth of the bottle is wide enough. I was just trying to limit as much contact with the dye as possible, and the funnel really helped. It also helps to not make such a huge mess ... just some food for thought.

I super glued the lid shut so Bubba wouldn't dump out the sand. He likes to do that ... apparently, making a mess for me to clean is fun for him.

So super glue = my best friend

When he wasn't looking, I threw in a few little treasures between the layers {see the white thing sticking out under the red sand}.

When we were done, I told him to shake it up and see if he could find a special surprise. He had fun looking for the shell, dinosaur, beads, and stone.

Then the fun wore off...

Soooo, we laid on the trampoline and looked for birds and airplanes in the sky.

Bubba took this picture. He said he saw a bird ... he has an active imagination.

Hope ya'll had a wonderful weekend, too!

Thursday Things

(1) Ahhhhhh! I can't believe it is already Thursday! My mind has been a day behind all week.

(2) I guess it's time for me to figure out some fun St. Patrick's Day activities for the little guy to do. I found a few good ideas here, here, and here.

(3) We won't be dying any food green this month, but I think we will make this Skinny Green Tropical Smoothie.

(4) I spent most of the morning cleaning/doing yard work {lame}. Bubba spent most of the morning doing this:

and making this:

(5) Seems kind of unfair. I wish I was a kid again {sometimes}.

(6) The placemat is based off of our Valentine's Placemat, except we used a sheet of window clings that I picked up from the Dollar Tree {much easier that cutting all of that out}.

(7) Did you watch Revenge last night? OMGosh. Craziness. I planned on going to bed early, but of course got sucked into the show.

(8) Our big t.v. {and only, until recently} is broken - the one that has my Tivo connected to it...so. yea. that's real cool. Which means I have to watch all shows live now. Who does that anymore? Thank goodness my Momma left us a little box television, at least I can occasionally catch one of my shows.

(9) {R.I.P. sweet t.v.}

(10) Hope ya'll made the most of the extra 24 hours yesterday!

Happy Thursday! The weekend is almost here!
