Cloud Dough and a Sensory Box

What a wonderful weekend! I hope y'all enjoyed it as much as we did.

Yesterday, Bubba and I lounged around the house and got a few projects done. The first one being making Cloud Dough. This stuff is awesome, and so easy to make. It is similar to the texture of very soft, fine sand; or as the Play At Home Moms describe "it's pretty much homemade Moonsand."

We halved to recipe because we planned on putting it in a smaller container, and it made plenty!

After it was complete, I  we decided to make a little sensory box with it.

We added some rocks that we collected from our backyard the other day,

a few sticks, and some of Bubba's toy trucks.

C was a little timid at first. He didn't really get what he was supposed to do. But, once he started digging with the spoons and trucks, he LOVED it!

This was a fantastic learning opportunity, as well. We talked about hard vs. soft, heavy vs. light, and big vs. small.

I asked him basic questions like "does the sand feel soft or hard?," "is the rock heavy or light?, "which rock is smaller, this one? or that one?"

Then we used his claw to transport rocks form the box to the plate.

He played in this box for almost an hour.

Then he laid down for a 3 hour nap...I would say that Sunday was an awesome day!
